Pinterest is putting data behind a noticeable change in the way people discover beauty ideas online. The platform has released its first-ever Pinterest Beauty Trend Report, highlighting the makeup, hair, nails, skincare and fragrance searches gaining momentum in 2026.
The report points to something bigger than a collection of viral beauty aesthetics. Pinterest users are searching for increasingly specific combinations of colors, textures, techniques and styles, suggesting that people are not simply copying trends. They are modifying them to fit their own look.
Pinterest says 85% of its weekly users discover new beauty trends or ideas on the platform before seeing them elsewhere, while 64% say Pinterest is better for discovering beauty trends that feel current.
For beauty brands and creators, those search behaviors offer an early look at where consumer attention is moving.
Pinterest Beauty Trends Are Becoming More Specific
The biggest takeaway from Pinterest’s first Beauty Trend Report is the growing level of detail behind beauty searches. Users are moving beyond broad searches such as “red nails” or “bob haircut” and looking for particular combinations involving color, texture, finish, placement and technique.
That matters because beauty trends are becoming less uniform. Someone might want a copper bob with textured layers rather than simply searching for copper hair. Another user might be interested in pink chrome almond nails instead of generic pink nails. Pinterest’s data suggests that this growing specificity is becoming a defining part of beauty discovery.
For marketers, it creates more opportunities to reach niche audiences with content designed around very specific aesthetics.
Makeup Maximalism Brings Back Dramatic Beauty
Pinterest’s Makeup Maximalism trend reflects a renewed appetite for expressive makeup. Rather than keeping everything understated, users are experimenting with stronger eyes, fuller lashes, dramatic lips and combinations that would have been considered too bold for everyday beauty a few years ago.
Searches for full-beat makeup looks increased 460%, while searches for 2000s club makeup climbed 184%. Bold lip combinations rose 121%, and avant-garde makeup searches increased 107%.
The trend also shows how beauty nostalgia is being reworked for current audiences. The return of 2000s-inspired makeup does not necessarily mean recreating an old look exactly. Users are taking elements from that era and mixing them with newer techniques.
Pinterest has also partnered with Sephora around the Makeup Maximalism trend, connecting inspiration with products consumers can explore.
Pink Hair Moves Beyond a Single Shade
Pink hair remains popular, but Pinterest’s Pink-a-Boo trend shows that users are experimenting with placement rather than simply covering their entire hair in pink. Hidden sections, stripes and contrasting colors are giving the trend a more personalized direction.
Searches for pink hair stripe rose 463%, while dark pink peekaboo hair increased 481%. Searches for teal and pink hair also climbed 273%, showing that users are combining shades rather than treating pink as a standalone color.
The appeal is easy to understand. A hidden pink section or colored streak allows someone to experiment without committing to a complete transformation.
Frosted Makeup Gives Y2K Beauty a Modern Update
The Arctic Frost trend brings icy colors and reflective finishes back into beauty conversations. Silver eyeliner, frosted lips, pastel-blue eyeshadow and crystal-inspired details are gaining attention as users revisit some of the visual language associated with early-2000s beauty.
Pinterest recorded a 286% increase in searches for frosted makeup, while metallic lips increased 52% and pastel-blue eyeshadow rose 51%.
The look feels familiar but not identical to the original Y2K version. Today’s interpretation mixes nostalgic colors with more polished application techniques, giving creators plenty of room to reinterpret the aesthetic.
Blush Is Becoming Softer and More Expressive
Blush is moving away from being simply a finishing step and becoming a much more visible part of the overall makeup look. Pinterest’s Cheeky Flush trend reflects growing interest in warm tones, soft textures and blush placement that creates a naturally flushed appearance.
Searches for dusty rose blush increased 189%, while terracotta blush makeup climbed 164%. Cloud skin searches rose 153%, and peach blush makeup increased 148%.
The trend favors softer finishes and warmer shades rather than heavily sculpted cheeks. It also fits neatly into the broader movement toward makeup that looks intentional without appearing overly constructed.
Body Care Becomes Part of the Beauty Routine
Pinterest’s Skinvested trend shows that beauty routines are expanding beyond facial skincare. Users are increasingly searching for ways to care for their bodies and scalp as part of a broader approach to appearance and self-care.
Searches for body wash for glowing skin increased 206%, while body-care routine aesthetics rose 202%. Dry brushing searches climbed 147%, retinol body lotion increased 144%, and searches around maintaining a healthy skin barrier rose 71%.
The shift gives beauty brands another way to position products. Body care is no longer treated as a separate category that sits below facial skincare. It is becoming part of the same routine.
Fragrance Is Becoming Softer and More Personal
Pinterest’s Eau So Cozy trend points toward fragrance preferences built around comfort, warmth and personal scent. Instead of relying exclusively on a single signature perfume, users are showing interest in softer scents and products that can be layered.
Searches for solid perfume aesthetics increased 333%, while skin scent searches climbed 287%. Marshmallow perfume increased 248%, fragrance wardrobes rose 210%, and gourmand fragrance searches climbed 147%.
Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and milky notes are all part of the conversation. The result is a fragrance trend that feels less formal and more connected to everyday routines.
The Bob Haircut Gets More Texture
The bob remains one of the strongest haircut categories on Pinterest, but the Bob Behavior trend shows that users are looking for movement and texture rather than perfectly structured cuts.
Searches for long layered bob haircuts increased 622%, while short layered bob searches rose 571%. Textured French bob searches increased 338%, and French bobs with wispy bangs climbed 394%.
That points toward a softer version of the bob. Layers, movement and natural texture make the cut easier to personalize, particularly for people who do not want a rigid salon-perfect finish.
Natural Beauty Still Has a Strong Audience
While maximalist beauty is gaining attention, Pinterest’s data does not suggest that minimal beauty is disappearing. The Romantic Reverie trend shows continued interest in softer makeup, natural-looking skin and hairstyles that emphasize texture rather than heavy styling.
Searches for soft natural makeup looks increased 105%, while natural makeup aesthetics rose 95%. Curly butterfly cuts increased 464%, French curl braids climbed 210%, and curly shag searches rose 109%.
The contrast is important. Beauty audiences are not choosing one permanent aesthetic. They are moving between different looks depending on mood, occasion and personal style.
Latte-Inspired Nails Turn Food Into Beauty Inspiration
Pinterest’s Latte Lacquer trend demonstrates how closely beauty searches are becoming connected with food and lifestyle aesthetics. Warm browns, caramel shades, coffee-inspired colors and fruit-like finishes are appearing across nail inspiration.
Searches for caramel nude nails increased an extraordinary 943%, while coffee nail ideas rose 922%. Raspberry jelly nails climbed 828%, earthy nail inspiration increased 578%, and almond milky nails rose 301%.
The appeal comes from the colors rather than literal food imagery. Caramel, coffee, raspberry and milky shades give users a simple way to create a manicure that feels seasonal without being overly themed.
Copper and Cherry-Cola Hair Colors Are Taking Off
Pinterest’s Copper Waves trend shows users moving toward richer hair colors that combine several shades rather than relying on one flat tone. Mocha, copper, auburn and cherry-inspired colors are appearing across searches as people look for warmer alternatives to traditional blonde and brunette styles.
Searches for mocha balayage hair increased 949%, while soft copper blonde rose 845%. Cherry-cola brunette hair increased 788%, and oxidized copper hair climbed 517%.
The popularity of these colors also reflects a preference for dimension. Balayage, highlights and layered tones allow users to experiment with noticeable color while keeping the overall result relatively wearable.
Beauty and Wellness Continue to Overlap
Pinterest’s Farm to Face trend connects beauty with food, wellness and DIY routines. Users are searching for ways to incorporate familiar ingredients and wellness practices into skincare and haircare routines.
Searches for skin foods increased 35%, while searches for bone broth benefits for women jumped 782%. Rosemary water for hair increased 269%, avocado face mask recipes climbed 141%, and coffee body scrub recipes rose 129%.
The trend is particularly relevant for creators because it crosses multiple content categories. A single post can sit somewhere between beauty, wellness, food and lifestyle, giving creators more room to experiment with formats and audiences.
Chrome Nails Become More Detailed
Pinterest’s Chrome Sweet Chrome trend highlights how detailed nail searches have become. Chrome is no longer simply a metallic finish. Users are combining it with cat-eye effects, jelly colors, patterns, shapes and darker aesthetics.
Searches for polka-dot cat-eye nails jumped 1,585%, while jelly pink chrome nails increased 1,469%. Milky white chrome almond nails rose 1,402%, gothic cat-eye nails increased 911%, and aurora cat-eye nails climbed 895%.
These numbers reinforce Pinterest’s broader point about beauty becoming more specific. Instead of searching for one general trend, users are building highly particular combinations that can be recreated, adapted and shared.
Pinterest Uses AI to Help Users Recreate Beauty Looks
Pinterest is also trying to make beauty discovery more actionable. Its Beauty Guides feature uses AI and visual understanding technology to analyze selected hair and nail Pins and provide users with information designed to help them recreate the look.
Users can select “Get the Guide” on supported Pins to access information about the beauty style, suggestions for what to ask a stylist or nail technician, related inspiration and relevant products.
That could make Pinterest more useful beyond the inspiration stage. A user may discover a haircut or manicure on the platform, understand what the style is called, find related examples and then use that information when visiting a salon.
The feature initially launched for iOS users in the U.S., with broader availability planned.
What the Pinterest Beauty Report Means for Brands and Creators
Pinterest’s first Beauty Trend Report shows that beauty discovery is becoming increasingly fragmented. There is no single look dominating the platform. Instead, users are combining colors, textures, techniques and references to create highly specific versions of larger trends.
That creates a different challenge for brands and creators. Broad phrases such as “beauty trends” can attract attention, but the stronger opportunity may sit inside the smaller searches surrounding them.
A creator covering cherry-cola brunette hair, for example, is speaking to a much more specific audience than someone simply posting about hair color. The same applies to caramel nude nails, frosted makeup, textured French bobs and solid perfumes.
Pinterest is effectively showing marketers where those smaller conversations are beginning.
With hundreds of millions of monthly active users searching for inspiration, those signals can become valuable early indicators of where beauty culture is heading.
