TikTok and the National Football League are extending their relationship through a new multiyear agreement designed to bring more football content, fan experiences and advertising opportunities to the platform. The deal builds on several years of collaboration between TikTok and the NFL. However, the new arrangement goes further than simply distributing highlights.
TikTok is increasingly positioning itself as part of the wider sports-viewing experience. Fans may still watch the game on television or through streaming platforms. However, many also use social media at the same time to follow reactions, memes, player clips and live conversations. The NFL clearly sees value in that behavior, particularly as it looks to reach younger and international audiences.
TikTok GamePlan Will Give NFL Fans Dedicated Hubs
One of the biggest parts of the expanded partnership is TikTok GamePlan, the platform’s sports-focused product designed to give leagues and broadcasters dedicated spaces around major events. For NFL fans, that means TikTok will offer official hubs where users can find football content. So they do not have to rely entirely on what appears naturally in the For You feed.
These hubs are expected to include game schedules, live scores, official NFL videos and links directing viewers toward live broadcasts. The idea is fairly straightforward: keep fans inside TikTok longer while making the app more useful before, during and after games. Moreover, it also gives the NFL another place to guide audiences toward official coverage.
More NFL Highlights and Archive Content Are Coming to TikTok
The agreement will also bring more NFL video to TikTok throughout the year. Fans can expect additional highlights, archival footage and league-produced content covering games, players and major moments from across the NFL.
That matters because football conversations do not end when the final whistle blows. Old highlights regularly return to social media, player interviews become viral clips, and offseason events such as the NFL Draft, trades and training camps generate their own waves of attention. TikTok gives the league a place to package all of that material in a format built for quick discovery.
The NFL’s international TikTok accounts will also play a role. Content will continue reaching fans in markets including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. That gives the league another tool for expanding its global audience. This is achieved without depending only on traditional sports broadcasting.
TikTok Pro Events Is Expanding to the NFL
TikTok is also bringing the NFL into its Pro Events experience, adding another interactive layer to the partnership. A dedicated NFL fan hub is expected to give users access to trending football content, platform activities and other features tied to major league moments.
The interesting part is that this moves TikTok beyond passive viewing. The platform has always relied heavily on participation, whether through reactions, remixes, comments or viral challenges. As a result, applying that model to NFL content creates more opportunities for fans to interact with the league rather than simply watch official clips.
It also gives TikTok another way to make sporting events feel native to the platform. Instead of treating football as outside content that happens to be reposted, TikTok can build experiences around games. Consequently, it creates its own layer of activity around the NFL calendar.
NFL Teams Get More Advertising Opportunities on TikTok
The commercial side of the agreement is just as important. TikTok’s Pulse Premiere advertising program will continue around official NFL content and expand to include more NFL clubs. This gives advertisers additional opportunities to place campaigns alongside premium football videos.
That is attractive territory for brands because NFL content already carries built-in attention. Big plays, unexpected moments, controversial calls and player reactions can generate huge levels of engagement in a short period. As a result, advertisers can now position campaigns closer to that activity through structured partnerships rather than trying to chase a trend after it has already taken off.
The deal also gives individual NFL teams more room to build commercial partnerships around their own TikTok audiences. That could become increasingly valuable as clubs develop stronger social media identities separate from the league’s central accounts.
NFL Content Is Growing Quickly on TikTok
The partnership is expanding at a time when NFL content is already gaining momentum on the platform. TikTok said posts using the #NFL hashtag increased by more than 32% over the previous year. This is according to company data covering August 2025 to August 2026.
That growth helps explain why both sides are investing more heavily in the relationship. The NFL gets access to a large audience that spends considerable time consuming short-form video. Meanwhile, TikTok gains a steady supply of premium sports content that produces predictable spikes in attention throughout the season.
Football is particularly well suited to short-form platforms. A full game may last several hours, but many of its biggest moments can be understood in seconds. Touchdowns, celebrations, sideline arguments, dramatic catches and fan reactions can all travel quickly across TikTok without requiring someone to have watched the entire game.
TikTok Is Becoming Part of the Sports Viewing Experience
The larger story is not simply that TikTok has renewed an NFL deal. It is how social platforms are becoming part of the way people experience live sport.
Fans increasingly move between screens during major events. They watch the game in one place and follow commentary, memes, highlights and reactions somewhere else. Therefore, TikTok wants to own more of that second-screen activity, and the NFL partnership gives it one of the biggest sports properties in the world to build around.
For the NFL, the benefit is equally clear. TikTok offers a way to reach viewers who may not consume sports through traditional television habits. As a result, a young fan might first encounter a player through a viral clip, discover a team through TikTok and only later become interested in watching full games.
That makes social media more than a promotional channel. It becomes part of the fan-development process itself.
The Deal Gives TikTok a Bigger Role in Football Media
The new agreement also shows how TikTok is trying to move beyond being known only as a short-form entertainment platform. Dedicated sports hubs, scores, schedules, official content and event-based experiences point toward a broader role in sports discovery.
TikTok does not need to replace broadcasters to become important to the NFL ecosystem. Instead, it can own the conversation around the broadcast. That includes what fans see before kickoff, what they share during games and what keeps circulating long after the result is known.
If TikTok can successfully combine official NFL content with fan participation, advertising and real-time game information, its place in sports media could become much harder to ignore.
