Google is expanding its advertising data infrastructure with a fresh set of updates to Google Data Manager. These changes give marketers more ways to connect first-party data. They also help improve conversion measurement and feed stronger signals into its increasingly automated ad products.
The update also stretches beyond Data Manager itself. Google is introducing new measurement tools and deeper integrations with Google Analytics and Display & Video 360. Additionally, Google is providing broader API access and adding more AI-powered capabilities for Meridian, its open-source marketing mix modeling platform.
Taken together, the changes show how important first-party data has become to Google’s advertising strategy. As more campaign decisions move toward automation, the quality of the data behind those systems becomes much more important.
Google Data Manager Expands Across Google’s Advertising Ecosystem
Google Data Manager is designed to give businesses a central place to connect and manage first-party information. This includes information from websites, apps, customer relationship management systems and offline sources. Google is now extending that capability more deeply into Google Analytics and Display & Video 360. As a result, advertisers can activate their data across more parts of the company’s advertising stack.
The change should make it easier for brands to bring together customer signals that previously lived across separate systems. In addition, Google says advertisers connecting offline and app data through Data Manager have seen an average 26% increase in incremental return on ad spend in certain Search campaigns optimized toward conversion value. While results will vary between advertisers, Google is clearly positioning stronger data connections as a key part of campaign performance.
Enhanced Conversions Expand to Google Analytics and DV360
Google is also bringing enhanced conversions to Google Analytics and Display & Video 360. Enhanced conversions use first-party customer information to improve conversion matching when traditional tracking methods do not capture the full customer journey.
The company says advertisers using enhanced conversions have recorded an average 11% increase in Search conversions compared with standard conversion imports. That matters because automated bidding systems depend heavily on accurate conversion signals. If Google receives a clearer picture of which interactions actually result in valuable actions, its systems have more information to work with when optimizing campaigns.
Google Opens Wider Access to the Data Manager API
Google has expanded access to the Data Manager API, giving businesses and advertising technology partners another way to connect data directly into Google’s ecosystem. The API follows the IAB Tech Lab Event and Conversions API standard. This standard is intended to make data connections more consistent across advertising platforms.
The company has also added diagnostic capabilities that can flag potential issues with data connections. For larger advertisers running multiple systems at once, this could reduce some of the complexity involved in maintaining separate pipelines for customer data, conversions and audience information.
Data Strength Uplift Metric Shows the Value of First-Party Data
A new Data Strength Uplift Metric is being introduced to help advertisers understand how much additional conversion activity is being recovered through their first-party data setup. Instead of simply telling marketers that stronger data connections improve measurement, Google is attempting to show the effect more directly inside the advertising workflow.
Google says advertisers using Google tag gateway have observed an average 14% conversion uplift, while some Demand Gen campaigns have recorded uplift above 20%. Those figures come from Google’s own measurements. However, the broader idea is straightforward: better first-party data can help surface conversions that might otherwise remain untracked.
Meridian Gains Agentic AI Capabilities
Google is also updating Meridian, its open-source marketing mix modeling platform, with new agentic AI capabilities. The added features are designed to help marketers review data quality, identify errors and receive assistance while setting up and interpreting models.
Marketing mix modeling can be difficult for teams without dedicated analysts or data scientists. Google’s use of AI appears aimed at simplifying parts of that process while helping users catch problems earlier. The company is also making backend improvements intended to speed up analyses and make Meridian easier to use at scale.
Brand Signals Become Part of Meridian Measurement
Meridian is also getting new options for incorporating brand-related signals into marketing analysis. Advertisers can now use metrics such as Branded Google Query Volume. This helps them better understand how upper-funnel campaigns may influence future demand.
That gives marketers another way to evaluate advertising that does not immediately produce a click or purchase. In fact, video campaigns, television advertising and awareness-focused campaigns often influence customers long before a conversion happens. As a result, Google is trying to make those effects more visible within its modeling framework.
Meridian GeoX Expands Globally
Google has also made Meridian GeoX generally available worldwide. GeoX is an open-source library that allows marketers to run geographic experiments by comparing different markets. It helps determine whether advertising created genuinely incremental results.
This gives advertisers another measurement layer beyond standard attribution. Attribution often identifies which channel received credit for a conversion. However, incrementality testing asks whether that conversion would have happened without the campaign in the first place. Google is placing more emphasis on that distinction as marketers look for clearer evidence of actual business impact.
First-Party Data Is Becoming Central to Google’s AI Advertising Strategy
The Data Manager update reflects a larger change across Google’s advertising business. Campaign management is becoming increasingly automated, with AI handling more bidding, targeting, optimization and measurement decisions.
That does not make advertiser data less important. It makes it more important. Google’s automated systems still need reliable information about customers, conversions and business outcomes before they can make useful decisions.
Data Manager is becoming one of the main ways Google wants advertisers to provide those signals. Analytics and DV360 integrations expand where the data can be used. Enhanced conversions improve matching, and the new uplift metric gives marketers another way to measure the effect.
Meridian adds a broader measurement layer by helping companies evaluate whether their marketing activity actually contributed to incremental growth. Together, these updates show Google building a more connected advertising system around first-party data, automation and AI-powered measurement.
For social media marketers, agencies and advertisers working across Google, YouTube and other digital channels, this shift is becoming difficult to ignore. As automation takes over more campaign controls, the quality of the information behind those campaigns may become one of the biggest competitive advantages.
